Spring Pest Control Checklist for Homeowners
Spring is when most pest problems start. Here's what to inspect, seal, and schedule before things get out of hand.
Warmer weather wakes up overwintering pests โ termites swarm, ants scout new food sources, wasps start new nests, and mosquitoes hatch in the first standing water. A 30-minute walk-through in early spring prevents most summer headaches.
Walk your foundation
Look for mud tubes (subterranean termites), swarmer wings on windowsills, and small holes in siding or trim. A free inspection now is cheaper than repair later.
Clear standing water
Empty planters, dump kids' toys, unclog gutters, and check tarps and rain barrels. A single teaspoon of water can hatch mosquitoes.
Seal entry points
Gaps around utility lines, dryer vents, and garage door corners let rodents and insects walk in. Steel wool and sealant close most of them in an afternoon.
Book a spring service
Most quarterly plans start with a spring perimeter treatment that stops ants, spiders, and wasps before they establish. Free estimates through PestControlMatcher.
